EXPERTS: SPOTLIGHT ON ART IS ONE UPSIDE OF LOCKDOWNS

 One benefit of this extended stay-at-home duration throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is a limelight on the importance of arts in daily life, experts suggest.


Art of all kinds has proven to be a key electrical outlet for countless Americans looking for entertainment and satisfaction while separating, functioning, and informing in your home.

Several weeks of social distancing and lockdown have left many scrambling for ways to maintain themselves and their families inhabited. With traditional forms of entertainment such as movie screenings, showing off occasions, and shows not available, Americans are relying on the kind of art that can be consumed and produced in the home.


THE ARTS AND COVID-19

With millions currently functioning from home, streaming solutions such as Netflix and Hulu have become entertainment staples. One situation in point is the Netflix true-crime docuseries Tiger King, which the streaming solution says attracted viewership from about 64 million homes worldwide. Songs streaming solutions, electronic books, and online video pc gaming have also been key electrical outlets for those looking for entertainment while remaining in your home.


"I hope when we arise from our homes, having actually relied for months on movies, tv, songs, publications, computer game, and more to maintain us busy, that we'll no much longer question the need to money arts programs in our institutions and neighborhoods," says Hank Stratton, artistic supervisor of the College of Arizona's Arizona Repertory Theater.


"The work of musicians from worldwide has assisted us make it through this time around, and we owe it to the future generation of musicians to earn certain they can proceed that work."

"A remarkable quantity of innovative work will arise from this interruption, because art comes from individual, often terrible, experience," McMahon says. "If we are fortunate enough to have peaceful time throughout this shutdown, we should use it as artistically as feasible."

Art also helps us stay gotten in touch with family and friends we can't be with personally, says Meg Jackson Fox, partner curator for scholastic and public programs at the Facility for Innovative Digital photography.


"We share our day, our experiences and our sentiments through photos," Fox says. "Functioning through digital photography provides itself to far-reaching discussions, learning opportunities, and social encounters while literally separate."
